ThisAge of Empires 4guide page explains how to create groups?
Place the selected units next to and highlight them.
Next, assign the group to a digit from 0 to 9 using the CTRL + digit shortcut.
One by one, create separate groups of military units.
The icons of the created troop groups will appear on the left side of the screen.
The groups don’t have to consist of one punch in of troops.
You may mix your units as you see like.
However, we recommend dividing your troops into groups of a given jot down.
This method works especially well during large battles and fortress conquering.
