The following page describes the basics of combat inThe Serpent Rogue.
Some characters have allies of their own that follow and help them in battle.
Killing just the “boss” is not enough - the other monsters will still be your enemies.
PressLMBto perform a basic attack.
Each attack uses some renewable energy - the green food bar.
UsingRMByou can target the enemy to counterattack more effectively; pressEto change target.
The blocks are 100% effective - you won’t take any damage.
To make things more difficult,your defense can be broken.
When a weapon’s durability drops to zero, you will lose your balance.
After that, you won’t be able to block for a while.
Then, the block button activates a special attack or other race skill.
Throw
you could throw any weapon by holding down theRMBbutton and throwing withLMB.
you’re able to always pick up the weapon you’ve thrown.
This throw in of attack deals the same amount of damage as the basic attack.
Remember that some monsters haveImmunityto somedebuffs.
Check the Bestiary beforehand, especially when facing stronger opponents.
Special weapons
InThe Serpent Rogueyou can find unique weapons and upgrade the ordinary ones.
This way, you could significantly change the combat and shift the power advantage.
have a go at adjust to the environment or carry different weapons/tools/potions with you and switch between them.
For example: the weapon in the screenshot deals additional damage against enemies that are on fire.
Use the torch first and switch to this weapon to deal increased damage.
Other weapons, like theBroom, can influence theageof the victim.
You will find many other weapons that, instead of dealing direct damage, can cause other harmful effects.
Often it will be a hit-and-run fight, but at least you won’t lose health.
