Grand Cathay’s tech tree is bead-shaped.
This is important, since due to theHarmonymechanic you must plan which technologies to research in advance.
The thicker part of the “bead” can be divided into 3 parts.
The top lets you developYangbased technologies, the bottom containsYinresearch.The middle isneutral.
Always research what you think you need, but remember that Harmony provides you with useful bonuses.
Each “bead” ends with a narrow part you must reach by developing earlier technologies.
Adjust your choices to your playstyle.
Support the units prevalent in your military.
If you use heroes, research technologies that make their actions cheaper, etc.
Additionally, some structures are attuned toYin/Yang, which counts to your overallHarmony.
This means they can be used for balancing purposes.
If your research pushes you too far in either direction you might regain Harmony thanks to buildings.
